Build a Pair of Shaker Doors

I’m going to end the year of 2018 with a long-lost home improvement post -- DIY a pair of Shaker doors for our kitchen cabinets!

The story began this summer that we tried every means to move the microwave into one of the kitchen cabinets. To make the whole cabinets look nicer,
Charles needed to make a pair of shaker doors from scratch. Step 1: Find a piece of good wood and cut it a bit bigger than the exact measurement.

Step 2: Use the router to create tongue and groove.

It took the first try to realize that some chipout occur after creating the tongue-and-groove.

Therefore, Step 3: Use the table saw to cut the right size after creating the tongue-and-groove.

Step 4: Use the hand planer to trim the edge

Step 5: Glue all the pieces together

Step 6: Sand them smooth

Step 7: Charles skipped stain the doors because he couldn’t find the right color the match the cabinets. We decided to leave it as it is and apply just the clear coat.

Step 8: Use this concealed hinge jig to create the precise holes for European style and concealed hinges.

Final Step will be installing the doors!

Happy New Year!
