We took off for Banff, Canada at the beginning of the summer. When we returned home, it felt that there were still a lot to do:
The kids attended their annual VBS at the church for a week. The program offered K-5th grade so this summer was the last time en could be the attendee.
Charles and I used to attend our church’s retreat in USD. Back then, we were either with baby en or baby el, not much of the quiet time for ourselves. Now the kids were all old enough to join the youth program. For them, it felt like their first time attending such a church retreat.
I invited my college friend to accompany me and we felt greatly appreciated to be grouped with a lot of young adults who had so much passion for their beliefs. We also learned a lot about the story of Rancho Sordo Mundo. The speaker of the event, Pastor Luke Everett, delivered a series of heartbreaking yet inspiring stories that helped me see the world from a different perspective.
The following weekend we returned to San Diego again for en’s long jump event for the California State Game at UCSD. Our city recreation made a terrible mistake which almost ruined our day. Thank goodness the lady who was in charge of the game kept a kind heart to let en finish his jump.
Considering that en’s event was super early at 6am, we returned to the hotel with the whole pool to ourselves!
UCSD has expended so much that it was almost unrecognizable. It was over 15 years after my graduation after all. We walked around the campus while telling the kids the time I spent as a college student there.
Always stop by the beach when visiting San Diego @ Torrey Pine State Beach
In August, we tagged along a group camping trip at San Gorgonio.
The children had such a blast in the creek at the foot of the mountain.
