en’s Catalina Island Marine Biology Trip

2025.10.20 - 10.24 Sixth Grade Marine Biology Program, Catalina Island, California

At the end of en’s 5th grade school year, all the 5th graders in the school district received a flyer about the Catalina Island Marine Biology trip. Their 5th grade teachers would select students from their site to participate in this 5-day-4-night trip.

The activities and things-to-do fitted en’s personality so well. There were algae lab, fish lab, hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, shark lab, plankton lab, rock climbing, island ecology games, invertebrate lab, astronomy marine mammals, oceanography… Signing up was a no-brainer for en.
[All photos in this post are taken from the teachers, nurses, and chaperones who also participated in this trip.]

He did exceptionally well for the first time living out of a suitcase, not just one but four nights! I’m sure this trip has become one of the major adventures in his childhood memories :D
