Busier Than Ever Summer

I’m going to post according to the correct date or at least closer to the date of the events… It’s currently in October already. I am way too behind and have so much to document the fun times, road trip, sightseeing, and travel that happened in the chu’s sweet home. I felt like the summer of 2023 was the busiest summer so far!

The school was off the second week of June. The weather in early June was the perfect weather to play outside, breezy and sunny. We went exploring different parks in the neighborhood and found a few that are worth visiting multiple times.

June 16: A long time family-friends with their lovely “herd” of children came to visit from Taiwan!

June 24-26: Mountain Oak Camping

Charles organized a group camping, counting to 7 families, to Valyermo, California. Not all the families knew each other, which I found really nice to be able to meet or introduce new friends. We all have kids close in age. I love seeing them playing tag, building forts, making s'more without knowing each other’s name, and then watching them forming friendships at the end of the trip.

July 1-14: Two weeks of Road Trip to Oregon!!

Our challenge to the lengthy road trip has a new destination: Corvallis, Oregon. I’ll have another post about this extraordinary road trip. We stopped by Redwood National Park, Crater Lake, and Lassen Volcanic National Park along the way. Most importantly, we visited the dear friends of Charles after 9 years of delay.

July 24-28: VBS 2023 STELLAR Shine Jesus’ Light

Little i finally got to attend our church’s VBS for the first time!

August 01-22: Taipei, Taiwan

We took a detour to Incheon International Airport, South Korea. It was NOT a pleasant flight, but landing in a foreign country was an interesting experience. We even spent a night at the transit hotel inside the airport!

August 14-18 Art Together Summer Camp at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. en attended a cooking class. el took an art class. little i was in the youngest STEAM class. Frankly speaking, they didn't like the classes so much, probably the idea of going-to-school-on-vacation frustrated them a bit. Anyhow, I'm proud that they made through the week and brought back some memorable projects home.
