Day II Itinerary: Arriving Nassau, Bahamas → Breakfast at Cabanas → Queens Staircase → Junkanoo Beach → Mickey's Pool & AquaDuck → Frozen, A Musical Spectacular → Palo Dinner
We woke up the next day approaching Nassau, Bahamas.
We had breakfast at Cabanas, a self-serve restaurant, which was en’s favorite. For him, it was better off to see the actual food to decide what to eat instead of reading the fancy names from the menu. el loved this restaurant too because it offered fresh crab legs (at lunch)!
Quite some people recommended staying on board to enjoy the amenities with less crowd, but it was not our choice. None of us have ever been to the Bahamas after all. We decided to send the kids to the Kids Club and disembark for sightseeing.
Nassau used to be famous for its historical stronghold of pirates. Now the street view was mixed with rough structures, new colorful buildings, historical architecture, tourist shops, and bumpy sidewalks. I loved the feeling of setting foot on a foreign land. We strolled around the city, collected my Starbucks Been There Mug, visited Queens Staircase, swung past Straw Market… all within walking distance.
Lastly, we arrived at Junkanoo public beach. The water reminded me so much of Tahiti’s, crystal clear and many shades of blue. I was really glad we got off the ship.
The two main pools, Mickey’s Pool & Donold’s Pool were much much smaller than I expected. I had to say it was not enjoyable staying in the pool. It was almost impossible to swim and the poolside staff would clear the pool every so often. When the movie was shown on the poolside screen, it looked like a pot with lots of floating dumplings… XD If the kids didn't mind to stand in line, I would rather go on the Aquaduck again and again!
Our dinner session was the 2nd seating at 8:15pm so we watched the Broadway-quality show, Frozen, A musical Spectacular, before dinner time. But tonight was a little different. Instead of going to the arranged rotational dinner, we pre-booked the widely renowned adult-exclusive Palo restaurant to see what’s the fuzz about. All I could say was it did not disappoint us. We had an extended dinner that lasted two hours. My stomach has never held this much exquisite food before.
When we picked up the kids around 10pm, we found out that we made a terrible mistake thinking the Kids Club would provide food at dinner time. They DID NOT have such service! We rushed to the poolside Flo's Café to get some quick bites for them. Thank goodness my kids hardly crave food, yet I felt overwhelmingly guilty about letting them skip a meal :(
Sorry, my love! |
Next stop: Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point
